The New Normal Derived by World Ecommerce Leaders at Ecommerce World Virtual Summit 2020, Hong Kong

The Ecommerce World Virtual Summit 2020 announced great opportunities in various countries and the positive prospect of e-commerce industry.

The Ecommerce World Virtual Summit 2020 was fruitfully held on 14th October 2020 by the Hong Kong Federation of E-Commerce (HKFEC) and Ecommerce World Limited.

The Ecommerce World Summit has been an annual industry event for the past few years and becoming great influence to the industry. The Summit is organized by Hong Kong Federation of E-Commerce and supported by our honorable industry leaders from China, USA, Russia, Japan, Singapore, Korea…etc. Each year, the event attracted over 600 guests from Banking & finance, Retail, IT, Hospitality…etc. Every year we have selected difference country in Asia for hosting the event, and in view of current social pandemics, the event is now change to a virtual format for 2020.

The theme this year is the New Normal in Digital Economy, and there were many discussions on digital transformation experience during the COVID-19 pandemic. 12 speakers representing different regions with expertise in different aspects were invited to introduce more about customer experience, online trade protection for both sellers and consumers, data protection, policy changes and expanding into foreign markets. They all provide constructive suggestions to enter a new market or new business with ever-changing conditions. The new normal that derived from the speakers would remain for the development of digital ecosystems, and it is inevitable.

Mr. Joseph Yuen, Chairman of Hong Kong Federation of E-Commerce (HKFEC) and Asian Relations Council of International Data Center Authority (IDCA) said, “The digital economy is the New Normal, we appreciate all ecommerce frontline people keeping all online service during the pandemic!”

Mr. Rich Banta, co-founder and co-owner of Lifeline Data Centers and Chairman of Technical Standard Committee of IDCA said “human cost is what being affected during the downturn, but Enterprise will certainly continue invest on I.T. security tools in US market”

Ms. Sharon Gai, Global Director of Alibaba Group said “Tmall has experience a high sales increase during COVID-19, new consumer behavior from the elderly and Alibaba is confirming a new digital roadmap for post pandemic”

Prof. Jorij Abraham, Managing Director of Ecommerce Foundation, said “when it comes to a choice for data privacy and social safety for corona virus, European tends to choose personal privacy”

Mr. Pawoot Pongvitayapanu, CEO and Founder of TARAD.com, said “if you want to do ecommerce in southeast Asia, you need to master social commerce, or precisely with video broadcast, the trend is live commerce.”

The Panel moderated by Dr. Victor Hung, Vice President of HKFEC, panelist included: Mr. Syed Ali, Co-founder & COO of JANIO Asia, Mr. Ian Ng, CEO of AISA Digital Pte. Ltd. and Mr. Vickson Tan, Sr. Marketing VP of Exabytes Network. While they gave a better view of recent business landscape for people want to do ecommerce over South East Asia region. Given the complexity in culture, language and living style, our speakers suggested to partner up with local expert with up-to-date technical solution is critical.

The Ecommerce World Virtual Summit 2020 was successfully attracting over thousands of corporate audiences, and it was once causing the website fully loaded and out of service.
