Hong Kong Trust Mark join World Trustmark Alliance (WTA)

At Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Vietnam 2017, 23rd February 2017, Hong Kong Federation of E-Commerce (HKFEC)’s Hong Kong Trust Mark joined World Trust Alliance (WTA), was invited as observer status to attend Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) the first senior official’s meeting and Electronic Commerce Steering Group (ECSG) in Nha Trang, Vietnam.

Hong Kong Trust Mark is proud to become an official member of “World Trustmark Alliance (WTA)”, where our Chairman, Mr. Joseph Yuen, introduce the scheme of “Hong Kong Trust Mark” to members of WTA at the Taskforce Meeting during the APEC ECSG meeting. “It is our honor to represent a Trusted scheme from Hong Kong to a world organization. It is a long journey to protect business and consumer for being trusted, but teaming up with Trust Mark operators around the world bring a big step closer towards the Goal”, said Mr. Yuen.

“We are happy for Hong Kong Trust Mark by HKFEC to join WTA, as Hong Kong being an International City and a key financial center in Asia, we can certainly leverage Hong Kong to connect with more global industry players for WTA” said Dr. Du Jia, Chairman, of WTA.

About WTA

The Asia Trustmark Alliance (ATA), one of the Trustmark alliances at a regional level, established in 2003. In 2006, ATA consists out of the following partners: Singapore: CNSG (Commerce Net Singapore), CASE (Consumer Association Singapore), Japan: EC Network, Trade Safe, Vietnam: EcomViet, South Corea: NIPA, Philippines: Qartas Corporation, Taiwan: SOSA, USA: TRUSTe. Secure Online Shopping Association (SOSA), one of the ATA members, proposed promoting ATA to an international organization in the Committee. In 2010, the original ATA was renamed WTA.

WTA remains a membership-based organization as ATA, the difference between ATA and WTA is that the membership of this association is no longer limited to the Asia-Pacific region, worldwide organization with 37 business operators from 30 countries.

WTA was able to collaborate with various international organizations like GBDe, APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) and ODR network since 2007. As GBDe’s recommendation, WTA has honorably served as the guest in meetings of ECSG (E-Commerce Sterling Group) DPS (Data Protection Sub-group) in APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Corporation) since 2012.
